Udstillingen blev åbnet af Viera Collaro, kunstner

Soloudstillingen The Spirit of Light er en retrospektiv præsentation af lyskunstneren Viera Collaros omfattende kunstneriske virke, nuanceret udfoldet gennem storskala lysværker samt Collaros omfattende malerpraksis.

The Spirit of Light vil sætte fokus på værker fra perioden 1995-2018. Udstillingen vil blive struktureret således, at hvert af galleriets 5 rum vil repræsentere en periode i Collaros praksis. Lysets væsen er et definerende tema for Viera Collaros praksis og som vil være til stede i samtlige af udstillingens rum udfoldet gennem forskellige typer af værker og skalamæssige greb.

Karakterisktisk for udstillingen er lysinstallationer, som er gennemgående i Collaros praksis og som ses i hendes mange permanente installationer over hele landet. Udover objekter, tekster og installationer lavet i neon og dioder vil lys også blive fortolket gennem malerier, arbejde på papir, foto. I udstillingen indgår bla. et helt nyt stedsspecifikt værk, The Healing, 2018 - som er skabt på plænen foran galleriet.

I relation til udstillingen udgives publikationen Viera Collaro – The Essence of Light. Med støtte fra Statens Kunstfond, Ny Carlsberg Fondet, Grosserer L.F. Foghts Fond og Augustinus Fonden udgives en omfattende præsentation af Viera Collaros værker fra perioden 1995-2017.
